Ludo – short for “Ludwigstein” – is a weekend trip organized by Coxis, for Coxis. We rent out an entire castle (Jugendburg Ludwigstein) and spend the weekend having fun, getting to know each other, and making some great memories.
Ludo is organised twice a year, once in the winter semester and once in the summer semester by the so-called Ludorga, made up of your fellow Coxis (and if love organising stuff, maybe you, too?).
Our next trip is happening soon! From 28th – 30th November we will go to our lovely Jugendburg Ludwigstein to spend Winter Ludo 2025 together.
Here are just a few of the highlights of the trip:
- 🥳 Tons of fun and bonding with your fellow students!
- 💃 Two epic nights of music, with two separate dance floors!
- 😋 Communal cooking of super delicious, all vegan food 👩🍳 (Bring containers to take home some leftover food)
- 🥂 Cheap drinks (beer, radler, mate, limo, and similar)
- 🌳 Lovely views of the surrounding forests and mountains, and lots of trails to explore (with a buddy, of course!)
- 🥵 A sauna and a swimming pool
- 😎 Fun workshops led by your fellow Coxis – get involved yourself!
Tell me more about these “Workshops”…
You’re probably already aware that Coxis are some of the most talented people at the University. With so much talent between us, it’s only natural that we try to teach each other a thing or two!
Anyone is free to lead a workshop in any topic that they choose (within reason). In the past, we’ve had things like:
- 🎸 Music-making
- 🕺 Dancing
- 🧘♀️ Yoga and Meditation
- 🎲 Pen-and-paper games
- 🍕 How to make reeeeally good pizza
- 🧵 Embroidery
- 🤘 Tattooing
- 🍻 How to open a beer bottle
- Et cetera!
Got an idea? 🤔 Add it to your registration form or send us a quick message.
We can collect the heavy or spacious stuff you need for your workshops before Ludo, ideally at the student body room (building 01). Please contact us early enough if you need someone to pick up your stuff.
What else is there to do at Ludo?
We’ll have the castle all to ourselves, and you’re free to spend your time as you please!
Whether you’re new to Cogsci or in your 18th semester, Ludo is the perfect opportunity to meet people. If you see some cool people doing some cool stuff, go join them!
If you need inspiration, here are some ideas:
- 👩🍳 Go help the kitchen team. It’s literally the easiest way to meet people at Ludo, and it’s a constant party down there. You don’t wanna miss out. Zero experience required!
- 👀 Do a shift with the Awareness Team. If you like making sure that the vibe stays nice, then the Awareness Team is the place for you help. Click here to sign up -> Awareness Shift Schedule
- 🎲 Play some games in the main hall. There will be people there playing something basically around the clock
- 🔥 Hang out by the campfire. Maybe sing a song or two
- 🥾 Go on a walk through the woods. Maybe try and find a cool stick!
- 👩🍳 Help the kitchen team. Seriously.
- 🏊♀️ Check out the pool (or volunteer for a Lifeguard shift!)
- 🥵 Hit up the Sauna (if it’s open)
- 🐈⬛ See if you can spot Fabian, the castle cat
- 🎸 Have a jam session in the music room
- 👩🍳 Did we mention that the kitchen team needs help?
That sounds amazing!
How do I sign up?
Below you’ll find a link to the sign-up page, but first you’ll want to read this important info regarding registration.
Your registration fee includes:
- 🏰 Accommodation in the castle
- 🍴 Lots of delicious food – made with your help! 👩🍳
- 🚌 Shuttle service to and from the castle
Your registration fee DOES NOT include:
- 🚂 Train services (current students don’t need to worry; the Deutschlandticket covers the journey)

If the fee is a financial burden, choose a lower price in the sign-up form – made possible by generous contributions from other Coxis.

What do I need to bring?
Ludo is supposed to be a fun weekend getaway. You do not need to bring all your belongings, but we do ask you to bring some necessities. We have created a handy packing list that you can follow.
Forgot something? Ask a fellow Coxi if you lend something – a great opportunity to meet new people!
Emergencies and Awareness Team
Ludo is a completely safe space, and the Orga team is well-prepared for anything that might happen. You can focus on relaxing and letting loose for the weekend; we’ll be there to handle any unexpected bumps in the road.
- 🚨 We have a mobile support awareness teams for any concern, be it physical or mental.
- 🚗 We have emergency drivers always sober and ready to help.
If you:
- Feel mistreated
- Have physical/psychological needs
- Need someone to talk to
→ Contact Awareness or Orga team
We will introduce ourselves at the start, so you’ll always know who to turn to!
The Awareness Team needs your help. It plays a vital role in making sure that everyone at Ludo feels safe and secure. Without volunteers, there can be no Awareness Team, and there can be no Ludo.
