Study Commission (StuKo)
- Purpose: The Study Commission regulates and monitors teaching, ensuring the smooth running of the study program. General study rules are decided here, while exceptions affecting individual students are handled by the Examination Board. If you encounter issues with regulations (e.g., course credit transfers), contact your student representatives who will raise these concerns within the StuKo. The StuKo convenes every 2 to 3 months.

Examination Board (PrA)
- Purpose: The Examination Board ensures the proper execution of examinations. It ensures compliance with the provisions of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and the examination regulations. The board provides regular reports to the department concerning the development of examinations and study periods.

Board of Directors (V)
- Purpose: The Board of Directors leads the institute, decides on the use and management of allocated resources, makes decisions about hiring and dismissal proposals for staff, and manages proposals submitted to the university leadership. Student representatives for professor appointment committees are also determined here. The board addresses all matters related to finances, research, and the institute’s direction. The institute’s director is elected from among the professors on the board.

Departmental Student Council (FSR)
- Purpose: Our FSR represents all students of the Department of Human Sciences (FB8). This includes the student councils of Cognitive Science, Psychology, and Health Sciences. Elected members form the official student body of our department externally. The FSR sends a representative to the FKK.

Student Council Coordination Cooperative (FKK)
- Purpose: The FKK coordinates relationships and contacts between student councils and other student body organs, as well as among the student councils themselves. [Source: Statutes of the Student Body]

Department Council (FBR)
- Purpose: The Department Council includes 2 student members with voting rights. It makes decisions on fundamental matters of research and teaching, decides on departmental regulations (particularly examination regulations), and provides opinions to the Presidential Board on the introduction, closure, and significant modifications of study programs. It determines the department’s doctoral regulations and proposes junior professorships to the Presidential Board for appointment. It can elect Equal Opportunity Officers for the department. General Student Committee (AStA)
- Purpose: The AStA acts as the student body’s political representative and serves as a point of contact for university management and other societal institutions. The AStA comprises eight departments with 14 representatives, covering areas like finance, social affairs, and student councils. It negotiates semester ticket prices, represents student interests externally, manages the student budget, and works to improve student affairs. [Sources: Osnabrück University, AStA]

Student Parliament (StuPa)
- Purpose: The Student Parliament is the highest governing body of the student self-administration. It consists of 45 members elected annually from the student body. Its legislative period begins with the summer semester. Currently, eight university groups are represented in the StuPa. [Source: StuPa]

Senate (S)
- Purpose: The Senate of Osnabrück University consists of 19 voting members. Ten Senate members belong to the professorial group, three members each to the staff group, the MTV group, and the student group. Senate members are elected directly by their respective groups. Their term of office begins on April 1st of a year and lasts two years, while the term for student members is one year. Members of the Presidential Board, deans, and the Women’s and Equal Opportunities Officer participate in the Senate in an advisory capacity. [Source: Osnabrück University]
